Adding photos, videos and files to a job

Keep everything about a job in one place: photos from site, a quick walkthrough video, the engineer's report, the plans the builder sent. Add them straight to the job, write a caption if you like, and mark up a photo to point things out.

Add from your phone#

  1. Open the job from Projects.
  2. Tap Actions, then Add photos or files. You can also scroll down to Files and tap Add files.
  3. Choose one:
    • Take photo opens your camera.
    • Record video opens your camera for a video.
    • Choose from library lets you pick several photos or videos at once.
    • Choose files is for PDFs, Word, Excel and CSV files.

Each file shows up straight away while it uploads. You don't need to wait. Keep taking photos, or add a caption while it goes up.

Add from your computer#

Drag files from your desktop or an email onto the job page. Anywhere on the page works: it says Drop to add with the job number. Let go and they upload.

You can also click Add files in the Files section to choose them.

Add a caption#

Tap Add a caption under a photo or file and type. It saves when you tap away or press Enter. A caption can be up to 500 characters.

Mark up a photo#

  1. Tap the photo and choose Mark up.
  2. Draw on it with arrows, boxes, circles, lines, freehand or text. Pick a colour and line thickness at the bottom. Pinch to zoom in on a phone.
  3. Tap Save.

The photo now shows your markup everywhere, with a Marked up tag on it. To change it, tap the photo and choose Edit markup. Your shapes are all still there, so you can move or delete them. To go back to the original photo, choose Remove markup.

Open, download or delete a file#

Tap any photo, video or file to see its options:

  • Open shows a photo or plays a video full screen. Swipe or use the arrows to move between them. Documents open in a new tab.
  • Download saves a copy. A marked-up photo downloads with its markup.
  • Delete removes it from the job. You'll be asked to confirm, because a deleted file can't be brought back.

Where else your files show up#

If the job is in a project, its files also show in the project's Media tab, marked with the job number. Tap Jobs there to see only job files. To change a caption or delete a job file, open the job. The project only shows it.

A job that isn't in a project keeps its files on the job page.

What you can add#

TypeFormatsLargest size
PhotosJPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, HEIC (iPhone photos)50 MB
VideosMP4, MOV, WebM1 GB

iPhone photos (HEIC) are changed to JPEG as they upload, so they open on any device. Older Word files (.doc) can't be added. Save them as .docx first.

Big videos take a while on mobile data. Try to upload them over Wi-Fi.

Who can see job files#

You and your team, if you're working in a team. Your client doesn't see them.
