Sammy Q1 Release Radar -- April 2026
Morning, everyone.
Krishna here. It's been a massive quarter. We've been heads down building, and I wanted to take you through everything new -- because there's a lot.
Quick note: we ship updates basically every day. This article just covers the major stuff you might have missed. If you're ever unsure how to use something, just ask Sammy. He knows how the product works inside and out and can walk you through it step by step.
The short version: Sammy's faster, smarter, and does way more than he used to. Let's get into it.
Notes -- your job diary, right where you need it
You know those little details you scribble in your diary or text yourself so you don't forget? "Client wants matte finish -- confirmed via text." "Access via rear lane only." "Check with sparky re: switchboard capacity."
That stuff used to live in your head, on a scrap of paper, or crammed into a line item description where it didn't belong. Now you can add notes to individual items, groups, or the whole estimate. They sit right there in your estimate where you need them.
Notes show on your takeoff reports by default (handy when you're sending the boys to the shop), and you can choose whether to include them on proposals or keep them internal. Your call.
You can even tell Sammy to add notes for you -- "Add a note to the demolition section: access via side gate only" -- and he'll do it.
Inline editing -- just click and change it
This one's been a long time coming. You can now click directly on item names, group titles, rates, quantities -- pretty much anything on your estimate or takeoff -- and edit it right there. No more opening dialogs or fiddling with menus for a simple change.
Want to fix a typo in a line item description? Click it, type, done. Need to adjust a rate? Click the number, change it. Rename a group from "Phase 1" to "Demolition"? Click the title.
You can also drag and drop items and groups to reorder them however you want. Grab an item and move it to a different group. Drag a whole group to change the order. It works the way you'd expect.
Sammy's gotten smarter
This is the big one. We've completely rebuilt how Sammy processes your requests, and the difference is night and day.
He's faster. Way faster. When you used to say "change the tile rate to $85," Sammy had to rewrite your entire estimate from scratch. Now he makes surgical edits -- just changes exactly what you asked for. What used to take 15-30 seconds now takes 1-3 seconds. For most adjustments, you'll barely finish reading his confirmation before the change is already done.
He can do more. Here's a taste of what you can now ask Sammy:
- Change prices and quantities: "Change the tile rate to $85/sqm" or "Double the quantity of downlights"
- Add and remove items: "Add a line for silicone sealant to the tiling section" or "Remove the skip bin"
- Reorganise your estimate: "Separate this by trade instead of phases" or "Group everything by room" -- Sammy restructures the whole estimate without changing any figures
- Set markups: "Set 25% markup on materials" or "Add 15% margin to the electrical section"
- Lock items: "Don't change the permit costs" -- locks them so future AI adjustments leave them alone
- Manage your rate rules from chat: "Create a rate rule for qualified electrician at $95/hr" or "Show me my current rate rules" -- no need to leave the estimate
- Update your AI instructions: "Always include 10% timber waste allowance" -- Sammy saves it and applies it to all future estimates
- Add notes: "Add a note to the demolition group: access via side gate, need to organise skip delivery before 7am"
- Ask questions about your estimate: "What's the total material cost?" or "How many hours of labour are in Phase 2?"
- Ask how the product works: "How do I apply custom markups?", "How can I add notes?", "How do I connect to Xero?" -- Sammy searches our help articles and gives you a straight answer
The bottom line: Sammy went from being a good estimator to being a proper assistant. He's not just generating quotes anymore -- he's helping you run the job.
Estimate versioning -- rollback and comparison
Ever made a change and wished you could go back? Now you can.
Sammy automatically saves a version every time the AI makes changes. You can browse your version history, see exactly what changed between versions, and roll back to any previous version with one click.
Made three rounds of adjustments and the client wants to go back to the original scope? Pull up version history, compare them side by side, and restore the one you want. No more "I think it used to be..." -- you'll know exactly what it was.
Proposal image sections
Your proposals just got more visual. You can now add a photo section to any proposal -- go to the Proposal view, hit "Add Section," and choose "Image Section."
Pull in photos from your estimate, your project, or upload new ones. You can add annotations to highlight specific areas, crop and resize images, and add captions. The photos render beautifully in both the online proposal and the PDF.
Perfect for showing clients before-and-after, site conditions, or specific areas you're quoting on. A photo of what needs doing is worth a thousand words in a scope of work.
simPRO integration
For the tradies running simPRO -- Sammy now connects directly.
Once connected, Sammy pulls in your simPRO customers and catalogue rates for razor-sharp estimates. When your estimate is ready, hit "Push to simPRO" and Sammy creates a structured draft quote in simPRO, complete with sections, cost centres, and catalogue-matched line items. Any items Sammy can't match to your catalogue get pushed as one-offs. You review and approve the quote in simPRO like normal.
You can also check the quote's status -- stage, customer response, job conversion -- right from the estimate detail page in Sammy without switching apps.
Set it up in Settings under Integrations.
Improvements
- Google Maps autocomplete for addresses -- finding the right address is now faster and more accurate. Start typing and Google handles the rest.
- Drag and drop file uploads -- drag files straight into the Create Estimate screen or the Sammy chat panel. No more hunting for the upload button.
- GST exempt estimates -- doing NDIS work or other GST-exempt jobs? You can now mark an estimate as GST exempt and Sammy handles the rest.
- Customisable takeoff columns -- hide markup, client cost, or any columns you don't need. Handy when you're printing a takeoff for the boys to take to the shop -- they don't need to see your margins.
- Additional proposal recipients -- add extra email addresses when sending proposals. Perfect for jobs where the client wants their partner, project manager, or builder CC'd.
- 100MB document uploads -- we've bumped the upload limit to 100MB per file. Upload those massive scope documents, audit reports, and site plans without hitting a wall.
What's next?
We're not slowing down. More integrations, more AI smarts, and more of the features you've been asking for. As always, hit reply if you've got feedback or ideas -- I read every single one.
Cheers, Krishna Pryor Co-founder, Sammy AI
