27 October Release — Lead Capture, Link Reading, Weather Alerts + More

Morning, everyone.

Krishna here. How many enquiries went cold in your inbox last month? From today they land in Sammy instead: from a quote form on your website, an email you forward, or straight from Gmail and Outlook with Sammy for Chrome. This release also brings links Sammy reads for you, the weather on every job site, receipts costed line by line, part payments on invoices, and more.

Quick note: we ship every day. This article covers the major stuff worth knowing about. If you're unsure how anything works, ask Sammy. He can walk you through it step by step.

Using Sammy on your phone? If you want these features now, don't forget to update the app: App Store for iPhone and iPad, or Google Play for Android. On a computer, it's all live already.

Every enquiry in one place, ready to quote#

Put a Sammy quote form on your website, or share it as a link on your Google Business Profile, your Instagram bio or a QR code on the ute. Every request lands in Sammy as a lead, with what they need and the photos they sent, and you get a notification straight away. Go to Settings → Integrations → Lead Capture and turn on Take quote requests. Someone else looks after your website, or an AI does? Tap Copy instructions for Claude / Gemini / ChatGPT and paste them in.

Open a lead from Clients → Leads and tap Start a quote: Sammy starts it with their words and photos, ready to go. Got an enquiry by email, from hipages or the customer themselves? Forward it to leads@withsammy.ai from the email you sign in with, and Sammy adds the lead for you. Or install Sammy for Chrome and turn the email into a lead from Gmail or Outlook in one click. When you win the work, they become a client by themselves.

Got a product page, a spec sheet or the builder's finishes schedule? Paste the link into the job description when you start a quote, or into the quote's chat, and tell Sammy what it's for: "follow their schedule for the wet areas", "use this tile instead", "match this look". You'll see Reading the link… for a few seconds, then he works from what the page actually says. A button with the website's name under his reply opens the page so you can check it.

If a page has a price and you haven't said how to charge it, Sammy asks: at cost with your usual markup, as is, or another way. While he's building a new quote he can't stop to ask, so he tells you what he assumed instead. Say it up front ("supply this mixer at cost") and he won't need to. If a site won't let him in, he tells you and nothing in your quote comes from it, so paste the details or attach a PDF instead.

See bad weather coming before you send the crew#

Every job's site card now shows the next 7 days of weather at the site. A day that looks bad for outdoor work stands out (rain likely, strong wind, a scorcher or storms), and a Bureau of Meteorology warning for the area shows above the days. Tap the days to see each one's top temperature, chance of rain and wind gusts.

Turn on Weather Alerts for a job and Sammy tells you at 3 pm the day before a bad day on site, so you've still got the afternoon to ring the concreter or move the work. Tap Weather Alerts: Off under the forecast to switch them on. You can ask Sammy too, like "when's the next dry day at the Glebe job?"

Cost a whole receipt in one go#

Upload a receipt to a job's costs and, when it has a few items on it, choose By line. Sammy puts each item against the line of your quote it belongs to, so your back costing shows where the money actually went. Check Where each line goes, then tap Save 6 costs (the button counts them). One cost still keeps the whole receipt together.

Before you save, tick Save 6 prices to … in your suppliers and Sammy updates that supplier with what you actually paid, without GST, adding the supplier if you don't have it yet. Your next quotes use your real prices, and you never typed in a price list.

Record part payments, chase the balance#

Not every client pays in one go. Open the invoice, tap Actions, then Record payment, and type the amount that came in. The invoice shows Part paid with the balance still owing, the PDF prints both, and payment reminders chase the balance, not the original total. You can send a receipt for what's come in so far.

Recorded a payment by mistake? Remove payment under Actions takes it back off. Invoices also remember who they go to now: pick the person in To when you send, and the reminders and receipts go to them too.

Smaller bits worth knowing#

  • Sammy finishes what he started. Refresh, lose signal on site or close the app while he's building or changing a quote, and the work still lands, with his reply waiting when you come back. Tap Stop if you change your mind.
  • Ask mode now looks things up. Ask mode on a quote checks your past quotes, your supplier price lists and the web before it answers, so "what did I charge for downlights last time?" gets a real answer. Guide: Asking Sammy about a quote.
  • Drag cards across the board. On a computer or iPad, drag a quote, job or invoice to another column on the Projects board to change its status, and it does just what the same change does on its own page. Guide: Working with projects.
  • Ask about several lines at once. Tap Chat about this on as many lines as you like, then ask once, like "merge these".
  • Send a Flex document on its own. Tap Send on any Flex document on a quote, like a roof or inspection report, and Sammy opens a message to your client with just that PDF attached, no quote needed.
  • Follow-ups reach the right person. Automatic follow-ups go to the contact the quote is addressed to, greeted by name. Guide: Automatic proposal follow-ups.
  • Bigger files. Plans and documents on quotes and jobs can now be up to 250 MB each.
  • Ascora kits come into Sammy. Tap Import kits on the Ascora card in Settings → Integrations and Sammy quotes with them, then pushes them back as kits with their labour hours, updating an In Progress quote in place so it keeps its number. Guide: Ascora.

That's the lot for this one. As always, tell us what you need. We read every email, and we'll pick up the phone and listen.

Cheers, Krishna
